About the show
"Land of the Horses" is a work by poet and composer José León, which combines music, poetry and equestrian art in a moving staging. After its success in locations such as Palos de la Frontera, Coín and Andújar, it now comes to Fuengirola to celebrate the beauty of the horses and their link with Andalusian culture, especially 'doma vaquera', i.e. the classical Spanish working riding discipline similar to American Western riding, but rooted in classical dressage, and originated in Andalusia for handling cattle and fighting bulls.
With a cast of more than 30 horses and 20 live musicians, the show traces the symbolic history of the horse: from its birth in freedom to its presence in popular fairs. Inspired by Master José León's double album/book, who leads the staging, the work also incorporates historical nods and tributes to relevant figures from Fuengirola.
